Brand Documentaries
A documentary about why your company exists, what it took to build and where it’s going. One film that recruits, sells and rallies your team long after launch day.
A 30-minute call to see if your story is ready to be told.
Sound familiar?
“Our About page could be any company in our industry.”
“I tell the founding story in every interview, every pitch, every onboarding. It never gets written down right.”
“We hired an agency for a brand video. It looked like a stock-footage commercial.”
“The people who joined in the last two years don’t know why we started.”
Why it matters
You know the moment the company started. The problem that kept you up at night, the bet that almost didn’t work, the first client who believed you. That story is why your best people stay and your best clients choose you.
But it lives in your head. When you’re in the room, people feel it. When you’re not, your website, your recruiters and your sales team describe you like everybody else.
A brand documentary puts you in every room you can’t be in.
This isn’t a commercial. There’s no voiceover reading a mission statement and no stock footage of people high-fiving. It’s the real story, told by the people who lived it and filmed with the craft of a documentary. You’ll be proud to show it for years.
Two kinds of brand video
The method
Deep story sessions with you and your key people, plus a dig through old photos, footage and the moments you’ve forgotten matter. We find the arc before we film.
Multi-day documentary production: your founder interview, supporting voices from your team and clients, and cinematic coverage of your real world.
A flagship film plus cuts for recruiting, sales, investors and social, with a premiere and rollout plan so it lands inside and outside the company.
Everything you get
Guided conversations to find the arc, the turning points and the voices that need to be in the film.
Old photos, footage and documents woven into the story where they add truth.
A written vision for the film’s structure, tone and look, approved before production.
Founder interview plus up to three supporting voices, with cinematic B-roll of your people and places.
Edited, scored, color graded and sound designed. The definitive story of your company.
For your homepage, launch posts and paid campaigns.
A version that shows candidates what it’s like to work there and why it matters.
Self-contained moments from the film, formatted vertically.
How to launch it to your team first, then your clients, then the world.
Plus the Story Confidence Guarantee.
Where it works
Candidates see the mission before the first interview, and the right ones lean in.
Prospects understand why you’re different before the first meeting.
New hires learn the why on day one, told by the people who lived it.
Is this for you?
The investment
Investment
Scoped on a call
Half reserves production; the balance is due before final delivery. Final scope and investment are set after the story call.
A strong brand documentary gets used for years: in every candidate email, every investor deck and every “about us” moment. Spread over that life, it’s one of the cheapest ways to make sure everyone hears your story the way you’d tell it.
If, after the included revisions, you don’t believe the film authentically represents your company’s story, I’ll keep refining the edit from the captured footage at no extra creative fee until it meets the approved treatment.
Applies to the agreed creative scope and footage captured. Reshoots or new creative directions are quoted separately.
I take on a small number of brand documentaries each quarter, because each one gets my full attention from first interview to final cut.
Questions
Not if it’s told honestly. The best brand documentaries are about the problem you set out to solve and the people you serve, not about you. Your story is the vehicle for theirs.
Almost nobody is. I direct interviews as conversations, not performances. Most founders forget the camera is there by the second question, and that’s where the real material comes from.
It depends on schedules and how many voices are involved. We’ll set a realistic timeline together on the story call, before you commit.
A customer story is about one client’s experience and is built to convert prospects. A brand documentary is about the company itself: why it exists and where it’s going. It’s built for hiring, culture, investors and brand. Many companies end up with both.
Yes. BBV is based in Atlanta and works nationwide. Travel is quoted separately.
Most companies that make a brand film realize they finally have a story worth telling every week. The Content Engine turns that into monthly video, photography and a plan, with a credit from your film toward the first month.
Your next step
Let’s talk about where the company came from and where it’s headed. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of the story, even if we never roll a camera.
Book a story call →P.S. The longer you wait, the more the founding details fade: the early team moves on and the old photos get lost. The best time to capture the origin story is while the people who lived it are still in the room.
